VERNON - VERY CLEAN' Description Well maintained VINCENT BACH STRADIVARIUS Bb TRUMPET. Made in MT. VERNON, N.Y., circa 1963 (Serial # 221xx). ML bore. Original lacquer is in very good condition (90%) with loss at the usual wear spots and some random minor loss over the whole horn. Valves are all matching and in great shape, with very little wear, quick response and excellent action. Compression is excellent and all slides give a nice pop. The trumpet was recently professionally cleaned/serviced and has no signs of red-rot whatsoever. This horn has two flaws that I tried to photograph: First (pic 9),the second valve slide has a 1/4" patch. When I bought this horn I was amazed by the good condition generally but the previous owner must have rested a thumb on the second valve slide and worn a tiny hole into it. I took the horn to John Thomas in Santa Cruz and after comparing newer Strad slides (brass diameter and thickness was wrong) we decided it was best to apply a very thin, very small patch. The lacquer around the patch has been feather buffed. It's one of the cleanest patch jobs I've ever seen. Second (pic 10), there are several small, hatch-like scratches in the bell near the first brace. Comes with original Mt. Vernon case which is in very good condition inside and out with the exception of the left latch which closes/opens put appears to have been pried open at one time and the handle which is getting weak with age. Comes with two keys. ALSO comes with original Mt. Vernon 7C mouthpiece which is in wonderful shape with no flaws or silver loss...the Mt. Vernon 7C is quite different from the 7C's Bach makes today and is highly sought after.
