Description
1959 Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster, Natural. This is a one owner guitar bought brand new in 1959. The guitar is one of 33 ever made and was purchased from Grinnell Brothers music store July 30th 1959. The guitar has been very well maintained and shows very little sign of wear for its age. The guitar will come with all the origional documentation along with the origional sales reciept. The neck is Flamed maple and has the double stinger. The tuners are the origional Pat. Pending Klusons and have never been changed or removed. The tuners work great and have no issues. The frets are also origional and have never been removed. The frets do have some wear but have plenty of life left in them. The binding on the neck is in great condition and shows no sings of pulling away from the fretboard. There is no sign of shrinking in any of the binding, including the -f- holes. There is a minor chip out of the top of the headstock -captured in photos-. There is a very small section of the neck in the lower bout were the neck has separated from the board. It is not a crack and can be viewed in the photos -additional photos can be sent upon request-. The body of the guitar is laminated flamed maple and is truly breathtaking!! The top of the body is in great shape and has no signs of heavy pick wear or arm wear. The binding shows no sings of shrinkage and is in great condition. The back of the guitar is also laminated flamed maple and is in 9.5 out of 10 condition. Absolutly no buckle rash. The flamed maple back is one of the nicest I have scene offered from that era. The pickups are untouched PAF's. All soldier joints and wiring are origional. Gold plating shows natural sings of wear. The hardware is all 100% origional including the bridge, tailpiece, knobs, switch and plastics. Guitar will be shipped with the origional used but servicable brown case. Overall, this is a very rare piece and probably one of the nicest in existence!! If you have any further questions I can be contacted at madisonsmusicstore@yahoo.com or by phone at 419-654-1853. I have a large photo gallery of this guitar but was limited on how many I could post. If seriously interested I would be more than happy to send additional photos and close-ups. Asking price is fairly firm, but willing to take serious offers. I would prefer the guitar not to be shipped. I am flexible on personally delivering the instrument or offering local pickup. All forms of payment will be cleared before the instrument will be released. Over seas bidders are not welcome on this sale. If shipping the instrument is necessary it will be $199.00 to cover a custom made shipping box and insurance for the instrument. Thank you for your interested and please contact me with any questions. BEN.
