Olds Super Bb cornet original satin silver - LA 1940s Start Price USD 289.00 Current Price USD 416.00 Time Left - Bid Count 6 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Friday, November 14, 2008 End Time Monday, November 24, 2008 Location Central Texas See more about 'Olds Super Bb cornet original satin silver - LA 1940s' Description Olds Super cornet - Satin Silver from the early 1940's  Selling for a collector that is downsizing his collection.  This is an Olds Super made in Los Angeles in original satin silver; as were many Olds horns made in the late 30's and early 40's.  Serial number 16xxx is in a gray area for dating.  Some evidence suggests that Olds stopped production during the war, but many Olds horns in the 14,000 to 17,000 range are silver and have military markings. This one has MPDC engraved in the tone ring.  The only name that comes up in a google search is Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia.  The cornet shows a bit of wear to the finish along the leadpipe, but is in very good original condition.  A few minor dings and scratches, but overall very good shape.  Matching serial numbers are on the valves and top caps and last two digits are stamped on the bottom caps.
