Description
I'm a realtor. There i said it. I made a lot of money in 2002 -2005. I bought some cool gear. Now i have to sell it all or go live under a bridge embankment. Ain't life grand? I'll be listing some of my favorite stuff over the next days.  This is about as clean a 1971 LUDWIG PHASE II unit as one could find. To my knowledge all orig and complete. I assume you pedal freaks know how rare these are-some say 50 in the world--some say less. Certainly of that fifty you would be hard pressed to find one in better cosmetic condition. There are only the expected light surface dings and such.NO dents, no missing feet, screws, wahers, sliders, knobs etc. The only "mark" on it is a # of some kind (drivers license, id of some kind) that was etched on the top metal plate (see pic). I guess back in the day people actually thought that having that there would either stop someone from stealing it or help in getting it back.(LOL)  Ok-here's the only thing about this unit--I bought it a ways back and when it came to me it worked fine--lights up like a spaceship with all the colors, etc. I paid somewhere over 3K but i honestly don;t remember how much. Back then i thought it ($) would never end. Now--sometime in the last year i was playing with the thinig and noticed that the washer system holding on the handle was loose on both sides and in danger of sliding off--so --being a guy with no technical knowlege but a bonefide RWA (Realtor with Attitude) I figured i could fix it myself..so- i unscrewed the plate that covered access to the area underneath where the side handle bolts originate. I took the plate off and saw that there was a full schematic of the unit there which i thought was pretty cool. I reached up and found the screw on one side and held it and tightened the thing.fine--but on the other side i was distracted and caught my finger on a clump of wires. when i looked up i saw 2 wires with little snap ends hanging there so i must have pulled them off the circuit board that is up there with a bunch of wires snapped on the edges. I thought "no problem" and proceeded to hook them on where it looked like they had come off of. I put it together and turned it all on and heard a horrible hum, plus i think the distortion worked but not one of the other things or something. So-i decided--don;t be an idiot--take it to a repair guy and pay whatever it takes. I know one guy who tunes up my amps for me and broughht it to him. He called in 2 days and said that "taking it all apart was complicated and that he was afraid to mess with it and that if he did he would take a lot of time and it would cost me 3-500 bucks and that he didn't want the responsibility.   GREAT....1st of all i don't have the 500 to spend. So I've decided to sell it for at least 500 less than i paid (i think it was more like 3500 to be frank)  I promise that it is not DOA-that it still lights up like a christmas tree and makes some good and some bad sounds. This is a great opportunity for a technical guy with patience to get a super rare unit at a great price--or to fix it up and makes ome money. I don;t know more than that except to say that as such i'm selling this as is-My 1700 plus feedbacks will tell you that I'm not a lying scum so trust that--but if this tech was too scared to go into this then i can;t be responsible if you get in there and screw it up more. Again it worked when i got it-though the front right footswitch (there are 4) has always been finicky and may need repair/replacement-i don;t know. the tech said that it was stuck in "on" for awhile when he worked on it. I assume that that's separate from any thing i did when i messed with the board. anyway--if uyou know what this is and you either are or have a great non-pu**y tech jump on this cause there ain;t no more out there!   BTW-the handle is PERFECT--tight, looks grreat again...nice job, Norm!     DUDE, where's my escrow?   [note -it comes with the original item drescription ad brochure--not a copy)
