Description
For your consideration we offer a rare muscial manuscript from the golden age of bands.  This is the Humoristische Fantasie on Kutschke Polka by David L. Downing.  The full-band manuscript score consists of 17pp. and is hand-dated vertically on the final page "New York July 15th 1875."  Downing was a New York area composer who had his own band and appeared opposite Patrick Gilmore's band at all the fashionable meccas for music in the second half of the 19th century.  Instrumentation is as follows: Piccolo in Eb, Flute in Eb, Oboe, Bassoon, Eb Clarinet, Clarinets 1-3 in Bb, 2 Cornets in Bb, 2 Trumpets in Bb, Horns 1-4 in Eb, 3 Trombones, Baritone 1-2, Basso, Side Drum, and Bass Drum w/Cymbal.  Considering the age, this and other scores from the same collection are in remarkable condition.  There is toning/soiling, marginal chipping not affecting notation, and general wear from use.  The handwritten manuscript is incredibly neat and very easy to read.  This and the other band scores coming to market are all copyright-free, a right that passes to the new owner to do with as she/he pleases.  BEWARE: As a buyer's premium, a final value fee of $48.00 will be added to the purchase price.  Do miss out on this treasure trove!  Please view our other vintage item auctions.   Seller pays shipping.  Payment due within 7 days of invoice.  We accept PayPal, checks and MO's.  Thanks for looking!
