The Solist Pro has the following features: Brass reedplates optimized for loudness and extreme airtightness Reeds specially set for best responseHalf-flat covers for brilliant soundSealed wooden body tightly fitted to the reedplates by a new process The Solist Pro is a new development with unique features: The wooden body is ground in two planes around the mouthpiece, so that the hole openings have an oval shape. At the same time, the front fits better to the lips, so that air loss becomes less. With careful rounding of the dividers at the hole entrances, the kind of lip care is achieved that is usually only possible with plastic. This is additionally supported by the full sealing of the comb. The surface left naturally after the grinding process provides a very self-contained design, distinctive and identified with the region our harmonicas are made. James Cotton plays Seydel harps! Blues harp legend and Seydel endorser Charlie Musselwhite says: "I can't tell you how much I really really really like these harps!" Mark Hummel, Bill Barrett, Wade Schuman, and a growing numbers of professionals play and endorse Seydels. The amazing Howard Levy also often uses Seydel harmonicas. These are some of the best harmonicas made in the world.Seydel is the oldest ongoing harmonica factory, having started in 1847, and it was Hohner's biggest competitor until after World War II, when it ended up on the wrong side of the Iron curtain. It survived that period and is now coming into it's own again, but, unlike Hohner, this is a small factory still making harmonicas the old fashioned way, on old machinery, and by hand. They take great pride in their work. I know, because I visited the factory and met the craftsmen there. Their web site is www.seydel1847.com.So, why not try one?
