Description
BACHornDoctor Auction Bach 42 Trombone - Early Elkhart Vintage!! Amazing Player!! Formerly Owned by K.C. Symphony Trombonist! What better endorsement then the fact that this was a primary horn for a Professional Symphony Musician!! Brighten up someone's Holiday!! Photos Below Description: Up for auction is this very nice Model 42 Bach Stradivarius Trombone. This is a large bore (.547") straight tenor trombone that would be perfect for use in orchestra, wind band, chamber music, or solo work. This instrument was previously owned by a professional trombonist (Bill Drybread) who recently retired from the Kansas City Symphony after 50 years of membership! As such, it is a wonderful hand-picked 42 that has been well maintained and cared for. The serial number is 13xxx, which puts the date of manufacture in the early 1970s, made in the Elkhart, Indiana facility. This horn features a gold brass, one-piece hand hammered bell that measures 8.5 inches in diameter. Also, the handslide features lightweight nickel-silver outer tubes. For its age, the instrument is in fantastic shape. There is some typical cosmetic lacquer loss throughout the instrument, however the horn is free of any major dents, dings, or scratches. Mechanically, the instrument is in good working order. The handslide feels quick and smooth, and the tuning slide pulls freely. The Bach 42 has become a legendary trombone among professional musicians, and is the current standard in countless orchestras around the world. This particular example has seen a lot of action at the highest levels of music making. Take advantage of our low reserve and take home a horn with a gorgeous sound and a wonderful history!
