Description
Vintage Couesnon Monopole C/Bb Trumpet Circa 1935 You are bidding on a Vintage Couesnon Monopole C/Bb Trumpet Circa 1935 [770]This is a very fine horn. Valves are so pretty, I gasped when I pulled them out for inspection. The valve stems are actually gold plated, and valves appear to be early Monel. Vavles are supple and smooth, and have NO lateral wiggle whatsoever. Compression is great on this horn, and it is in excellent working and cosmetic order.More on condition - the instrument is finished in silver plate, and has almost no wear points. I believe the only wear can be found on the outer surface of the 2nd valve loop. It's otherwise very clean. The only condition issue to note, is some dentwork on the tuning slide. It's functionally perfect, but you can feel the dentwork when you run your fingers round the slide. Otherwise, this underslung-pinky-ring, art deco beauty is stunning. The horn is keyed in C, with both an extension segment for the lead-pipe / tuning slide, and scored lines on the valve slides to put it in Bb. It sounds great in either key, with a very subtle, personal voice. The tuning slide on this horn expands generously, making this a Martin Committee-esque, dual bore instrument. I'm sure this adds some cornet to the mix, providing warmth and bendability. The instrument comes in its original coffin case, which is FABULOUS! Leather covered wood, and places for accessories. One clasp is broken, but the case is otherwise sound. Please check my other auctions for an interesting selection of vintage and antique horns, including a rare Boston Ne Plus Ultra cornet, 1930 Conn 22B trumpet, and a nice Academy branded trumpet (some confusion as to whether this is a Rudy Muck or not), in MINT- condition.
